When people think of wellness, they tend to think of only physical health, but wellness is about much more than just your physical health. There are eight distinct areas of personal health, and each of them has a direct impact on your physical health.
These areas are: Physical Health (of course), Social Health, Spiritual Health, Environmental Health, Financial Health, Occupational Health, Psychological Health, and Intellectual Health. Today we will be talking about your Spiritual Health. This will be a series on wellness so look for more coming up!
Some people think when you say social wellness that it means to get in front of your phone or computer and go to Facebook. I read a very interesting article on Google about the 7 Tips for Social Wellness Month.
Join a Gym – this will put you in contact with people by default. If you don't socialize there, you can at least get someone to spot you.
Volunteer – Volunteering helps you to feel useful and contrary to popular belief, it makes you want to do more.
Get A Hobby - As "linkedsenior.com" states, "Hobbies not only helps you with being connected to others, feeling better, stretching your abilities, boosting your immune and also good for memory and self-esteem."
Nuture your friendships – maybe you've been alone for a while now, connecting with your old friends and now is a good time to do this.
Focus on your own needs – being effective socially doesn't mean giving everybody everything you've got. A socially well person has the ability to be themselves in many different situations.
Resolve Conflicts – Getting into escalated arguments is not being a pillar of social wellness. Happy individuals resolve their conflicts and some even make humor as a way of dissolving the issue. It is hard to yell if you are laughing.
Connect with a Pet – Who says that being socially well means it is with humans? Some doctors recommend getting puppies perhaps to create a deeper bond.
I would also like to remind people that are home-bound to utilize all your avenues to come in contact with others. I personally used Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn to fill my life with friends that I can talk to at a moments notice. This doesn't mean I forgot my family and friends from home, it just means that I elected to enter into friendships online to supplement my very dull life. In short, this is the month to take care of your social wellness by taking care of your own needs for a change. It never hurts to make yourself the number one priority especially this month. Do whatever makes you feel good and whole. Enjoy Social Wellness Month and help someone you know enjoy it too!

I'm a retired bookkeeper after 20 years of employment. I've worked in a few different situations. The first was a public accounting firm (5 years), then an investment firm (3 years) and finally an office supply store (10 years). My experience is very diverse. I found myself being asked by my daughter to help her be a single parent and move in with her and my granddaughter.
Now I write and post blogs and forums online for money as well as a couple of micro jobs. My daughter is helping support me so I am always looking for the next new job.
They say that writing more often will give you more experience and better writing in return. I am looking forward to working with any of you that need my services whether it is bookkeeping or writing. You can contact me about my writing services via my Simbi Profile.
