Top 8 YouTube Picks for Kids

I recently posted about how children are becoming more dependent on technology; however, let’s be realistic. When parents need a break, we let the kids play. So, let’s look at this from another perspective. How about some great YouTube channels that are educational and entertaining for your children to play when they do have screen time?

Here’s my list of the 8 best YouTube channels your kids will love:

1. Baby Einstein

A creative way to share the arts and humanities with your baby, with tons of entertaining videos to choose from.

2. TED-Ed

All kinds of great information to help your child learn about educational topics and life in general.

3. Khan Academy

Educational videos geared more toward the middle/high school aged learners. Great for helping with those homework assignments and learning science experiments.

4. Baby First TV

One of my go-to favorite channels that entertains the baby and toddler alike.

5. Sesame Street

Past episodes, music videos, and other educational videos to teach your child from toddlerhood to elementary school.

6. Little Baby Bum

Tons of nursery rhyme sing-alongs and videos for your little ones.

7. Simple Kid Crafts

Lots of miniature doll crafts and tutorials to keep your pre-teen/teen busy.

8. Mother Goose Club

Great channel with songs and stories for your preschoolers.

When it comes to YouTube, you want to make sure that your child is using YouTube Kids to help filter out some of the inappropriate content that circulates on the YouTube website. Also, you can take added precautions through setting up parental controls. You can block certain channels and content; as well as, set timers so your kids don’t overdo it.

Raising up well-rounded children means giving in moderation, so I hope this list is helpful as you monitor the content your kids are watching and you are teaching them how to use technology to learn and grow in a healthy way.
